Trying ballet...

With some of her Christmas money, Abby bought a ballet set with an instructional dvd, a ballet bar, and a foot position mat. I got her some slippers and a leotard--you can't dance without the proper outfit! She enjoyed trying it out.

Sisters

Look at my beautiful girls! Sarah got necklaces for herself and Abby that said "Lil' Sister" and "Big Sister"--too cute. I think there's a good chance that Abby will grow up to be just as beautiful as her big sister!

Cat and the Christmas Tree

At first I thought Patches just liked the Christmas tree (artificial) and ornaments, but then I figured out that she can hide. Not only hide, but hide close to the door so that when it opens, she can try to make an escape without anyone seeing her. She hasn't been successful yet!

Red Sweaters Art Installation

This sweater is going to become part of what is now a moving installation that was inspired by the war in Iraq. To learn more, check out: www.redsweaters.org

I found out about the installation from the book, Knitting for Peace, by Betty Christiansen. I want my knitting to make a difference, so I picked up this book. I love the idea behind this installation. Nina Rosenberg is the person behind the idea for this project. She thought that the red sweaters could "represent the human form, and red for the color of blood" (23). She had them hanging in a tree outside her home, but now the installation is on the move and they are still accepting sweaters--one sweater represents a soldier who has lost his or her life in Iraq. I'm hoping to make a few more--they're about 500 sweaters behind the count right now.
